Now this is proper skateboarding. Dennis’ winning run at last weekend’s Tampa Pro Contest. Forget about all those over-tech ledge dancers. This is what street skating is all about.

Here is a rad photo of my Grandpa and Uncle Mike playing horseshoes up at the lake. Circa 1978

Ok. How loony is this? Robert Pollard of GBV is scoring the Pete Rose documentary. I though I was on acid when I clicked on this

I saw this sign when was in Denton, TX last time. I love this sign. It would be great if it was a bar.

Gnarbuckles!!

So, I don’t care if this kid is a supposed prick. I don’t need to hang out with him. Nick Merlino is strait up GNARLY!!! My keep in mind he is regular foot. Gnarly as SS Backlip on that high as pink rail gives me the heebie jeebies when i envision attempting that shit.
Bonus Tyrone Olson footage too!

The wife and I took a hike up in Anderson Valley this weekend. We hiked through the Hendy Woods to the former home of a real hermit. Homeboy lived here for many years (he died in 1981) in this hut constructed underneath the stump of an overturned redwood tree. This hut was pretty sweet. It had a makeshift fireplace and a little bench that was built into the ground. He lived off of bbq chipmunks and foraged food for years. Occasionally, he would hike down to the nearby campground to bum smokes off of campers. He supposedly was a nice guy, but just liked to kick it “off the grid.” He may have feared that he would be deported if he was discovered. He befriended a few locals throughout his years, and everyone said he was shy but kind. He was from Russia and came over on a fishing boat sometime after fighting in WWII. I wonder why he ended up in Philo, CA of all places?

I just got my new issue of The Skateboard Mag in the mail yesterday. Ray Barbee is on the cover doing one of the best frontside wallrides that I have ever seen. It got me thinking about some old skate vids. This is one that popped up. Natas with fIREHOSE from Wheels of Fire or what ever it was called. Classic.

This is what happens when I am drunk and pretend to be an artist. Auckland, New Zealand
At least I can claim that I shoot film still. I am so cool that I should move to Williamsburg and dress funny.

Old news by now, but I wanted to give a shout to Guru. R.I.P. You and DJ Premier always kept my head bobbin in the formative years.
